Sep. 21st, 2018 08:36 pmMy online presence is stuck between paranoia of being "outed" and having it impact me professionally (very much irrational), and wanting to engage. This might be a middle ground
1. Do you have the urge to do a Fall/Spring cleaning as soon as the weather turns?
No, I have the urge to have a clean home pretty much all the time. I find it makes a big difference in my stress level. I hire a regular housekeeper to come in since otherwise it doesn't get done. The person I have right now is pretty great, because I come home and can interact with the kids rather than feeling obligated to clean as soon as I walk in the door.
2.What tells you that the season (a certain smell, a certain taste, that sort of thing) has changed?
The weather. Here where the plains meets the mountains, we get Weather with a capital W a lot. Fall is heralded by the frost in the mornings starting about a week after its no longer 100 degrees out. Winter means snow that sticks. Spring is snow that melts, and the feeling that we will finally be able to see the sun again. Summer is heat, but also awesome thunderstorms. And its hard to go to sleep in the summer when its light out way past bedtime.
3.What do you look forward to the most with the change of seasons?
I love fall and spring, mostly because they are not miserably extreme. It's just nice to have a break. I also have a love hate relationship with shoveling snow. Right now, I'm just happy that I neither burn nor freeze when I drive to work.
4. What is something that you probably should accomplish but won’t this season?
Winterizing the garden. And getting snow tires on the car before the roads are seriously icy. But they will eventually both get done, just not before the first snow (predicted for next weekend, seriously? because snow in September is not a good sign for the coming winter).
5. What is the most enjoyable part of the oncoming season for you?
I love halloween, but this year we will be in Hawaii. OMG warm vacation while everyone freezes at home. 2 years ago I based Monkey's costume on her snowsuit, but now she wants to be princesses all the time. I'm packing an emergency princess dress, but hoping we can find something Hawaiian she will be excited to dress as.
