I'm not so much of a writer as a reader. I signed up for LJ in the attempt to friend writers whose fiction I have read on other sites, who have more posted here, but only let friends read it.
I suppose I could be seen as leach on the online writers' community, or as a great fan who wants to appreciate your work, and is happy to give feedback and reviews.
I was late to discover fan fiction, and despite being an avid fiction reader and vaguely aware of the concept of fan fiction, stumbled through a back door (I was looking for some well written smut) onto a world of Harry Potter that I never knew existed several months ago. I find myself reading stories posted several years ago, many of which are written by authors who seem to have stopped publishing (or at least under that penname), as well as more recent works.
I have ambitions to put together more updated lists of recommended stories for readers who share my tastes. I find it sad when I discover a list of excellent recommendations, but more than half the links are broken. But that will have to wait for another post.
